Now Toni Braxton has been accused of fraudulently wiring a significant sum of money to her estranged husband singer Keri Lewis, according to the trustee of her bankruptcy estate.
The 45-year-old Un-break My Heart star, who was married to Lewis from 2001 - 2009, reportedly transferred $53,490 to her ex, apparently in order to evade repayments to bank creditors, according to website. Lewis was said to have received the money after it was already designated to repay her debts. Upon discovering the apparent fraud, the bankruptcy trust has in turn sued Lewis in order to regain the money. In response to the allegations, Braxton's representatives told TMZ: 'All of the payments made to Lewis prior to Toni’s bankruptcy filing were appropriate transfers for reasonable and necessary personal and business expenses in the ordinary course of her business.' They also pointed out that Braxton is taking the necessary means to prove that this is the case. Braxton has been separated from singer Lewis since 2009. The couple were married for eight years, and have sons Denim, 11, and eight-year-old Diezel together.
